I loaded it up less than an hour ago and by the time I could let everybody here know about it, I already had a backer.
Check it out here:

We’re going live with the kickstarter campaign in a few days and we need to have these files available so people can see them.

World Conquerors Kickstarter Promo Deck
Friday, September 23rd, 2011 in News, World Conquerors
I’ve uploaded a file here:
It is the list of promo cards for the World Conquerors Kickstarter campaign.

I’d like to get thoughts on it but I don’t know how to turn comments on.

My art director wanted to include some revolutionaries but we’ve already got a full deck. (I know it is oxymoronic to talk about a full deck of people that wanted to take over the world).
Anyhow, I’ve begun working on the Revolutionaries deck. I’m not sure how many cards it will have but I know Che Guevara is in there. Revolutionary rulers can only be played in a country owned by somebody else. I’ll have more for this soon.

I’m doing a revolutionaries expansion for World Conquerors and I’ve arbitrarily decided there is room for only one russian communist revolutionary. Which one should it be.
To compound matters, I don’t know how to turn on comments so I’ll have to cross post this somewhere that people can see.
Comments OffKickstarting World Conquerors?
Monday, August 15th, 2011 in News, World Conquerors
A lot of people have been recommending Kickstarter.com to me.
I am thinking very seriously about using that service for World Conquerors as a way to raise the money for production without borrowing it and generating buzz for a project that people might not otherwise see.
I’ve looked at some of the other offerings at Kickstarter and I realize I’ll need a great piece of cover art. This reminds me that any time you release a game you need a great piece of cover art.
Kickstarter board games commonly offer premiums to people who donate at a certain level. For example, you get a T-shirt for donating $25 or a copy of the game for $50. For the higher end donations ($250), you can get your name on special cards and such.
I’ve got to work out the details but it looks like this is something I’m going to go for.

Whew! My quest to conquer the world of board gaming with World Conquerors has been at least as difficult as the endeavors of those 48 men and women portrayed in the game. Well, maybe nobody has died in the course of the game but it’s been arduous. I’m looking to give it a final test at GenCon and then go off to press.
I was pleased to find that it works really well as a solitaire game. I had played some solitaire just to make sure the mechanics were working out all right and to my surprise, it was addictive! So far, I win just over half the time when I go through an entire deck.
There are still a few typos. Shaka’s obsession with Europe has lasted through 3 attempts to change his goal to Africa.
Jim Pinto got the cards going and a map. I’m rethinking the idea of making the map the cover.
I’ll keep you posted!
